I’m a proud husband and father. I have the best family in the world. They give me so much love and every day I’m thankful to have them in my life. I feel like the luckiest guy on the planet.
Music envelopes my soul and reminds me that it’s the reason I am alive. There’s something about music that connects me to the pulse of the universe. Whether playing it or listening to it, I feel immersed. The nature of physical reality seems to melt away a bit and I become more energy than mass. There’s a special place in my heart for 90’s grunge + alt rock + Seattle, though I love all genres of music.
I was a computer nerd before it was cool
. I’m a huge Linux and open-source advocate. I make my living in I.T. support + consulting and am managing a startup that will change the world. I feel that it’s important to spend my work days doing something that I truly believe will leave the world a better place once I’m gone.
The Darkener is an alias I created for myself when I discovered the vast underworld of the BBS in 1994. The roots of my name lies primarily in a character for the multiplayer, text-based door game I used to play called Legend of the Red Dragon. I made many friends in my youth due to L.O.R.D. and BBSes. I still have a strong nostalgia for boards; I wouldn’t be the nearly same person if they weren’t a part of my life.
I continue to swing on the spiral shaped vortex that is existence. I currently believe that time resembles a spiral – it may be linear but it intersects with the past continuously. No “moment” is quite like any previous moment yet energy from the past is constantly fed into the loop. The concept of time has always fascinated me. One of my favorite quotes is by Prince, which is “Time is a mind construct.”
